Check tyres regularly: Always check the condition of tyres before going on the road. Always perform the following routine maintenance operations: keep the tires at the proper air pressure. The vehicle manufacturer has specified the correct pressure for the tires, which can be found at the door edge, door post, glove box or fuel tank opening. This pressure value is also listed in the user manual. The number listed on the side of the tire is not the recommended tire pressure - it is the maximum allowable tire pressure. You should check the tire pressure at least once a month. In addition, check the tread pattern depth. Proper tread pattern depth will help prevent skidding and tire blowout.
Slow down: When it rains, dirt and oil on the road mix together, making the road slippery and weakening the vehicle's braking ability. The best way to avoid skidding is to slow down. Slow driving can increase the contact area between the tire and the road surface, thus providing greater traction.
How to get rid of skidding: even the most cautious driver can slip. If the vehicle skids, remember not to press the brake pedal forcefully. If your vehicle is equipped with anti lock braking system (ABS), please do not brake in the way of intermittent braking. Instead, you should firmly and steadily step on the brake pedal and turn the steering wheel in the direction of slipping.
Be fully prepared for going on the road: Driving on slippery roads requires you to gently perform all major control operations (steering, clutch, braking and fuel filler), and be alert to accidents and emergencies ahead. When you drive on the road in rainy days, your shoes may get wet and easily slip off the pedal when you step on it. Before starting the engine, wipe the sole of the shoe on the carpet or rubber foot pad of the car. All car drivers should regularly check whether the headlights, tail lights, brake lights and turn signals of the car are working properly.
Avoid braking on slippery roads: Avoid braking. When possible, slow down by releasing the accelerator pedal. The headlights should be switched on even in light rain. This will not only help you see the situation on the road, but also help other drivers see your vehicle. If your vehicle is equipped with daytime running lights, you should turn them on so that the car behind you can better keep your distance.
Keep a proper distance from the vehicle in front: the braking distance on the wet road is about three times that on the dry road. Since a longer braking distance is required, be careful not to rear end the vehicle in front. The distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front should be more than two bodies.
Learn how to avoid and deal with vehicle skidding: If the rainwater accumulates in front of the tire faster than the vehicle weight can spill it, skidding will occur. The water pressure will lift your car and form a thin film of water between the tire and the road. At this time, the vehicle is completely out of contact with the road, and there is a danger that the vehicle will slide or deviate from the direction, or even slide off the road. To avoid skidding, keep the tire at the correct pressure all the time, keep the tread pattern deep enough, and replace the tire when necessary. Slow down when the road is wet, and avoid waterlogged roads. Try to drive along the track left by the car in front. If you find that the vehicle starts to skid, please do not step on the brake or hit the direction violently, which may cause the vehicle to enter the sideslip state. Lift your foot off the accelerator pedal until the speed slows down and you feel the road again. If you need to brake, please take gentle braking operation. If the vehicle is equipped with ABS, please take normal braking operation; If necessary, the on-board computer will automatically imitate the operation of the brake.
In case of heavy rain, please stop immediately: heavy rain will make the wiper exceed the working load, so that continuous water flow will spread on the windshield and affect the vision. If the vision becomes poor, you may not be able to see the edge of the road or other vehicles within a safe distance, so you should stop at the roadside and wait for the rainstorm to stop. It is best to park in a rest area or other protected area. If you can only stop at the roadside, you should stop as close to the roadside as possible and wait for the rainstorm to pass. Headlamps and hazard warning lights should always be switched on to warn other drivers.
The first rain will make the road very slippery: the first rain will always make the road very difficult to drive, because the mud and oil leakage on the dry road are mixed with the rain, making the vehicle very easy to slip. The driver may feel that his ability to control the vehicle is reduced, so you should be extra careful in the first half hour after the rain starts.
Cloudy weather will reduce your vision range: Cloudy weather will relatively reduce your vision range when driving, so you must be extra careful when overtaking.
After driving through the accumulated water, the brake shall be wiped dry: if the accumulated water is deep enough to make the brake pads wet, brake slightly several times to make the brake pads dry.
Do not drive with fatigue: to prevent fatigue, you should take a rest at least every few hours or every hundreds of kilometers.
